Ramble in Winter

Warm Ink and a Shivering Pen

Winter is a great place to walk. It’s the calm that follows the requiem of autumn. The long, dark night that feels cosy, but also lonely. Will the warm days return? Will life come back to us? The crisp frosty landscapes, the empty trees, the forgotten sky. They wait. Yes, we wait too. Hidden in our thoughts, hidden under those piles of gold blown into corners, is next year, next spring, the new place that has been promised. Winter is that natural social-media break we always long for after what seems like a life-time of looking for something and finding only a broken silence. Summer is a mischievous mind that thinks it knows what it wants, but wants only the winter, the not-knowing. The place of all possibility.
